A How-To On Layering Shirts
By
An easy way to add a touch of interest to your styles is by layering shirts together. But sometimes doubling up on styles can create an uncomfortable bulky feeling – and nobody wants that. So, what’s our secret? Intelligent design.
Introducing: Connie Cuff Tee
This hybrid style is designed to offer the perfect solution to your layering woes. It’s carefully stitched with a stretch-infused jersey material that hugs close to your frame to prevent any bulking or crunching – while also helping to trap in the heat. And to maximise stacking potential, it features shirt-style buttoned cuffs to create the illusion of a classic button-up shirt layered under your sweater vests, jumpers, or knits.
Which shirts should you layer with?
There are no fast and hard rules on how to layer shirts; it’s really down to what style you’re trying to achieve. If you’re looking to smarten up a knitted jumper, slipping on a shirt beneath it and letting the cuffs and collar peak through can be an easy trick to add a sophisticated touch. But if you’re just looking to add warmth to something like a sleeveless sweater vest, a basic long-sleeve tee or even a short-sleeved crew neck can work.
What pieces can be styled over layering shirts?
There’s a whole range of styles that can be worn over shirts, for example; a basic tee can be styled over a button-down for a contemporary look. But if we had to pick our favourites, we’d suggest a knitted layer over a shirt. Our favourite piece to play with is the Adler Sleeveless Vest as the openwork knit style offers a chic option to wear over other pieces from our collection.
A cardigan is another obvious choice for easy layering. Button yours over a long-sleeved tee or a simple cami for a timeless look and try styles like our Ariella Cardigan for something more understated – or opt for the oversized look with the College Cardigan.
If it’s solely shirts you want to work with, nothing beats a classic blazer for layered style. You can even use our Connie Cuff Tee under the Astrid Cropped Blazer for a lightweight take on the classically tailored look.
