How To Style Midi Skirts – Size 14

By Emily Weatherill

There are a whole number of reasons we love midi skirts, but nothing beats its versatility. A midi skirt’s breezy silhouette and calf-grazing length make it the perfect piece to use in every look – that’s everything from casual to formal to eveningwear. But if you’re wondering how to style midi skirts and need a little inspiration to get you started, allow Julia to offer her guidance.

“Midi skirts are perfect for my body type! I have a short torso, so the high waist and longer length help elongate my legs and balance out my body. And Saint + Sofia’s fully inclusive size range is perfect when I’m shopping for size 14.”

Look One – Eliza Midi Skirt

There’s something so effortlessly chic about creating a co-ord with a midi skirt. It offers a more elegant take on contemporary the trouser and top co-ords. This set uses the Astrid Waistcoat in Cream to pair with the Eliza Pleated Skirt in Cream. Both pieces in this set are made from a linen-effect material that offers a lightweight summer aesthetic.

You’ll also notice the skirt features a high-rise flat-fronted waistband that falls into an A-line silhouette with structured pleats. Julia says: “I love styles with vertical seams as they lengthen your frame even more.”

Look Two – Noho Skirt

When Julia was searching for midi skirts, finding a black style was a non-negotiable: “A black midi skirt is a must-have! I love the Noho Skirt because I can wear it to work or brunch with my friends, and I can dress it up for a cute girls’ dinner. Black is such a versatile colour and can be paired with almost anything in my current wardrobe.”

Choosing a midi skirt with an asymmetric hem is perfect for adding interest to the more sophisticated aesthetic of a midi skirt. You can then dress this style up with a ribbed vest like the Nova Racer Vest and a pair of boots, or dress it down with a graphic tee and your favourite trainers.

Look Three – Lexi High Low Skirt

You may spot midi skirts with A-line silhouettes or more fluid designs, but that doesn’t mean they have to be shapeless. Take our Lexi High Low Skirt, for example; not only does this monochromatic floral design feature a skin-baring slit at the side for added definition, but it also pairs perfectly with a belted waistline thanks to its mid-rise fit.

Julia particularly enjoys styling with belts. “For me, defining my waistline is something I look for with any outfit – and a fun styling addition. I love adding a leather belt, a gold chain belt, or just simply tucking in my top. This helps create the illusion of a longer torso and further balances out my body.”
