INSIDE HQ: A Day In The Life with Our Supply Chain Lead

When you think of a fashion brand, your mind probably goes to the designers, but there’s another all-important role that keeps everything running: Supply Chain Lead. Here at Saint + Sofia, Lily is our Supply Chain Lead, and she works to oversee and organise everything from fabric procurement to factory relationships, delivery, and quality. It’s a busy role but a crucial one when it comes to making sure we continue to deliver the highest quality clothing with fair and sustainable processes.

How long have you been at Saint + Sofia?

5 years as of March 2025!

Did you always know you wanted to work in fashion?

Yes, I always knew I wanted to work in fashion. Originally this stemmed from loving art in school and knowing I wanted to work in a creative environment.

What is your favourite part of your role?

My favourite part of my role is being a part of coordinating the entire journey of a product, from sourcing raw materials to delivering finished garments and learning from customers. Every day is different and brings new challenges to experience and learn from.  

Why is your role so important to fashion brands?

The role is solving a constantly changing puzzle, managing sampling, production, supplier relationships, and logistics across the world. It’s about balancing quality, cost, minimums, lead times and sustainability to ensure we offer the best product for our customers, in time with our launch deadlines.

How closely do you work with the designers? Do you get a say in products pre-production?

I work really closely with design. We talk every day about lots of different things, including sampling materials, fabric costs, sample deadlines, and quality testing. I support the team by ensuring the fabrics we choose meet our quality standards and our target costs. 

Any tips for people looking to get into the career?

Be brave and go for it! There are a lot of different jobs within the fashion industry that people don’t realise. There is so much to learn which keeps every day interesting.
