Saint and Sofia’s Blockbuster Watchlist

By Joe Smith

Getting out of the house in autumn can be a chore, especially when the weather’s looking a little worse for wear. But when you’re heading from the warm and dry of your home to the warm and dry of your local cinema, you’ve got no excuse! So, here are a few films we’ll be looking out for later this year and early next.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

A sequel over 20 years in the making, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice promises to provide all the scares you could want and more this spooky season. With a star-studded cast including returning actress Winona Ryder and new-generation Scream Queen Jenna Ortega, this sequel is sure to fill you with delightful frights that’ll keep you up all night.

Gladiator 2

A film a  long time in the making, Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2 is the must-see action epic gracing cinema screens this autumn. With the nation’s sweetheart Paul Mescal playing the lead and other notable names like Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, and Joseph Quinn on the lineup, we’re ready to see what’s going down in Ancient Rome.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy

Finally, Bridget Jones is back on our screens. The fourth film in the beloved franchise, Mad About the Boy sees Bridget step back onto the dating scene as an older woman. Funny, sad, and all-out emotional, this movie promises to make us laugh, cry, and everything in between. We’re just excited to see Bridget on our screens once again.

Snow White

Another one of Disney’s recent live-action remakes, Snow White features Rachel Zegler as the titular princess as she tries to escape the clutches of an evil queen. A musical film from the mind of Greta Gerwig, this movie will see fan favourites, such as the seven dwarfs and plenty of flaunting fauna, take centre stage. It’s guaranteed fun for all the family.

Wicked

A world-renowned musical has been whisked off Broadway and shone onto the silver screen. Wicked sees Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo step into the world of Oz in an origin story we all know so well. There’ll be plenty of belting ballads, whimsical witches and wizards, and some tales of treachery to keep us entertained when this movie hits cinemas later this year.
