The Ultimate Halloween Snack Table
By
With Halloween just around the corner, there’s one thing that’s sure to be on your mind. No it’s not your costume, or your pumpkin design, it’s your halloween snack table, of course. Why? Because a spooky display of edible treats is sure to impress your guests at this year’s halloween party.
Here’s five must have trick or treats to add to your spread on the 31st.
Oreo Spiders
They might be your least favourite creepy crawly, but they sure taste great as a sweet snack. To create your sugary spider you’ll need:
- Oreos
- Googly Eye Candy
- Chocolate
- Pretzel Sticks
Start by sticking six mini pretzel sticks into the cream of your oreo. You’ll need three on each side to make legs. Then melt down the chocolate in the microwave and add a small dollop onto the front of your biscuit. Before it sets, stick two googly eyes to the front.
Mummy Dogs
This one is always a winner – does anything taste better than salty hot dogs wrapped in buttery pastry? To create your mummified hot dog you’ll need:
- Hot Dogs
- Pre-rolled Puff Pastry
- Mustard
Take your pastry and slice it into thin strips. Use these strips to wrap around your hot dog, leaving a space available at the top to add a face later. Place your wrapped sausages into the oven until everything is crisp and golden, then use two drops of mustard to create eyes on the space you left free.
Ghost Strawberries
BOO! This treat is sure to spook you with how delicious it is. Chocolate coated strawberries are tasty at the best of times but something about them feels even sweeter when you’re dressed in full spooky couture. You’ll need:
- Strawberries
- White Chocolate
- Milk/Dark Chocolate
Melt your white chocolate into a bowl. Take your strawberries one by one and dip them into the bowl. Place them on a plate to dry. While the chocolate is drying, melt your milk chocolate into a separate bowl. Once the white chocolate is dried add two eyes and a mouth using the milk chocolate to create the face of your friendly ghost.
Bloody Popcorn
A truly grotesque way to enjoy your popcorn but the perfect topping for the spooky season. Here’s everything you need to create bloody popcorn:
- White Chocolate
- Red Food Colouring
- Popcorn (your flavour of choice)
Melt your white chocolate into a bowl and add a drop of red food colouring until it resembles a crimson hue. Add your popcorn to a bowl and drizzle over the red chocolate.
Eyeball Cookies
These cookies are looking at you from all angles, and we’re just as creeped out as you are. Give your guests a fright and bake a batch by using:
- Your favourite cookie dough recipe
- Green food colouring
- Edible googly eyes
First, whip up a batch of cookie dough using your favourite recipe (ours is a classic chocolate chip). Once your dough is ready to be rolled into balls, add green food colouring until you achieve the desired shade. Form your cookies onto a baking tray and press in the googly eyes. Bake until crisp and the eyes have set.
