From The Designers: Inspiration Behind The May Collection

By Emily Weatherill

May is in full swing, and this month’s collection has swiftly become one of our favourites. It’s filled with seasonal designs, boho pieces, and wardrobe staples that you’ll be wearing year after year. A lot of thought, care, and love went into making this capsule as beautiful as it is. Find out what inspired the Saint + Sofia designers and learn more about how the collection came to be.

The Inspiration

With the sun finally shining and warmer weather here, we’re starting to spend more time outdoors. And it was while paying homage to the fresh landscapes of the planet we call home that our designers developed our May collection. In particular, the beautiful nature of the Spanish islands was the true inspiration behind our capsule.

The May Collection, designed by our Saint and Sofia designers, features a punchy colour palette with pops of bright yellow and earthy brown.

Punchy Colour Palette

“With the May collection being in the peak of summer, we used a really punchy colour palette to create the capsule. You’ll spot pieces in a beautiful mango hue and lots of summer browns to break up the vibrancy. These earthy tones work well as neutrals when creating seasonal looks,” our Senior Designer, Danielle explains.

As for denim, colour appears in this edit in the form of indigo denim, which we’ve used to create your new favourite pair of jeans. You can even jump on board with the double denim trend by pairing the Bowie Flared Jeans with the matching Bowie Jacket.

Brown Linens

Not only do summer browns reign supreme this May, but linens make a star appearance. Combining both aesthetics, our designers created our Corinne set. Comprised of beautifully comfortable wide-leg trousers and a relaxed tunic top, this russet brown co-ord is a must-have in this month’s line-up.

Focus on Textures

“We wanted to focus on textures this May to add a touch of interest to your pieces. You’ll spot blouses and dresses of broderie anglaise, which offer beautiful detail with breathability. We also have our bestselling Maggie Wrap Dress reimagined with a textured finish to add interest to the instantly wearable design,” our Senior Designer Maartje explains.

Handcrafted Bags

Ready for summer breaks and coastal adventures, we launched our new basket bags in May. These beautiful bags are masterfully handmade by artisans in a women’s collective in Ghana. For most of the women, joining the collective was the first time they received fair pay for their work and were able to use their generations of talent to earn a living. Each bag is entirely handmade and unique in its own way, making it the perfect summer accessory to add to your collection.
